Portage La Prairie is one of Manitoba's major centres, situated along the Assiniboine River. It is the site of the Fort La Reine National Heritage Site.
Chris Vickers completed a series of archaeological digs in the Mound Builder and Assiniboine sites in Southern Manitoba between 1940 and 1950.
