McClungs in Manitou - 1890 to 1911

This source document is intended to provide background to the McClungs in Manitou Exhibit held at the Backstage Gallery of the Manitou Opera House from August 8 to September 15, 2017. 

Its purpose was to reflect on some of the people who influenced Nellie McClung's development as a social activist, and to remark on the very positive influence the McClungs had on Manitou and community while they were in Manitou.

                Metis Nation - Joseph Godon - Rock Lake

                Joseph Godon was one of the well-known Metis leaders in the district north of Rock Lake Manitoba. He was born near Pembina North Dakota to a family associated with Alexander Henry's trading station at Pembina, but he lived most of his life in the Rock Lake district.

                  Nellie McClung - Commemorative Pamphlet

                  A commemorative pamphlet published in honour of Nellie McClung by the Manitoba Travel and Convention Association in 1965 and written by M. J. G. McMullen.

                    Nellie McClung Articles - Bette Mueller

                    This short series of articles, written by Bette Mueller for the Manitou Western Canadian in 2015-16 were published in commemoration of the centennial of women receiving the right to vote in Manitoba.
