184th Battalion CEF - Recognition Day 2016

In May 2016, the community of Manitou paid tribute to the 184th Battalion CEF on the 100th Anniversary of the Farewell Muster held in Manitou on the May Long Weekend 1916. A memorial service was held at the Manitou Opera House and a Heritage Fair in the Gymnasiom of the Nellie McClung Collegiate.

            Archaeological Report 1945 - Southern Manitoba Sites - Chris Vickers

            Research was carried by Chris Vickers on Mound Builder and Assiniboine sites in Southern Manitoba from 1940 to 1950. 

            This report was prepared for the Historical and Scientific Society of Manitoba and is currently in the collection of the University of Manitoba.

              A report on Chris Vickers' archaeological surveys and digs completed during the 1946 field season on the Mound Builder and Assiniboine sites in Southern Manitoba.

                Archaeological Report 1947 - Chris Vickers - Southern Manitoba Prehistory Sites

                In his 1947 report, Chris Vickers notes important discoveries on the origin of several settlement cultures in South Central Manitoba. He also notes the destruction of one major prehistoric site due to agricultural bulldozing.
